Detoxing from alcohol at home
It is extremely important that one does not attempt to detox from alcohol at home without the proper supervision and assistance from a trained medical professional. Patients who have a strong alcohol use history and attempt to stop alcohol on their own can have fatal outcomes. Alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse are serious problems that require the right treatment by trained physicians.
Symptoms of alcohol withdrawal & Alcohol withdrawal timeline
Within the first 6-12 hours the person who is experiencing alcohol withdrawal will experience sweating, shaking, vomiting, insomnia and dizziness. These symptoms are mild yet cause noticeable discomfort. Hours 12-24 may cause moderate to severe symptoms including increased anxiety, increased sweating and total insomnia. This will continue through the fifth day when patients are at serious risk of seizures, fevers, and are prone to hallucinations. These symptoms and the timeline of these symptoms varies for each patient and is in no way a guideline to aid in the timing of obtaining medical help.
