Drive-Thru COVID-19 Vaccination Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Burbank
At last, a reliable form of protection against the coronavirus is now ready. Scientists have successfully produced an effective COVID vaccine to help control this worldwide pandemic. Our medical facility has been approved by the health department and will soon be administering the COVID-19 vaccine through our drive-thru locations located in Beverly Hills, West Los Angeles and Burbank. The two-dose vaccination is 95% effective in protecting against COVID-19. At My Concierge MD, we are currently administering the coronavirus vaccine via an appointment made by calling our office at 3102998959.
The science behind vaccines
Vaccines are typically made of a weakened form of the virus. Upon injecting the vaccine into the human body, the immune system is alerted and soon begins producing antibodies to help fight off any future infections. Although the basic science behind vaccines is the same, there are multiple forms of vaccines including live attenuated vaccine, inactivated vaccine, and mRNA vaccine.
A live attenuated vaccine (LAV) is made of a virus that has been processed in a way to make it much weaker than the infectious virus. An inactivated vaccine consists of an entirely killed virus. An mRNA vaccine does not contain the virus at all but only viral genetic material, specifically its mRNA.
What is the COVID-19 vaccine made of?
Unlike typical live attenuated vaccines, the coronavirus vaccine is an mRNA vaccine. This means that it consists only of the mRNA of the coronavirus. Instead of taking the virus in its entirety, scientists have isolated genes from COVID-19 and created an mRNA specimen which is the core of the vaccine.
When the mRNA vaccine enters the body, it codes for viral proteins which the human body starts producing. When the body is alerted that there are viral proteins present, it activates the immune system so it can start fighting without triggering disease or making you sick. The viral proteins that are produced are not toxic in any way, they only function as an alarm system so that the immune system can start working to generate antibodies against COVID-19.
Although COVID-19 is the first mRNA vaccine to be used in a wide scale, the science behind mRNA vaccines is old and has been studied for decades. The mRNA vaccine does not affect the human DNA or interfere with any of your genetic material. The mRNA in the COVID-19 vaccine will enter your cells but won’t gain access to the cell’s nucleus where your DNA resides; therefore it cannot alter your genetic makeup in any way.
