Coronavirus: what is it?

The recently discovered novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a strain of viruses that affects the respiratory system. It is transmitted from one person to another via air droplets. When someone who is coronavirus positive coughs or sneezes, the air droplets that they produce contain the coronavirus and can infect other people.

COVID symptoms include fever, cough (typically dry), and shortness of breath. It is important to differentiate between COVID infection and other respiratory conditions such as asthma, flu, or seasonal allergies.

Symptoms may not immediately show after infection. An asymptomatic period of 2-14 days may occur during which the patient can be carrying the virus without showing any symptoms.

Our Beverly Hills medical office performs various types of coronavirus testing. We offer our patients the nasopharyngeal PCR test, the mouth swab PCR test as well as the rapid COVID test. In Home COVID Testing

Instead of leaving your house to visit our office for a COVID test, we will bring the test to you. Please refrain from buying test kits online from untrusted sources. To avoid unreliable results that can lead to false negatives and unnecessary panic, please call us for a professional opinion first and we will provide you with all the information you need.

Our highly trained nurses and medical personnel will visit your home and perform Coronavirus testing for you or your family. Our staff will be fully prepared and equipped with personal protective equipment including gown, face protection (goggles and face mask), gloves, disposable shoe covers or rubber boots, and head cover.

If you choose the nasal PCR swab test or mouth swab , our staff will take your sample to be analyzed at the lab. Your results will be ready typically same day and an encrypted email will be send to you directly when your results are available. Please note depending on the time you have your PCR test performed, it may take up to 24 hours to receive the results.

If you choose the rapid test kit, your results will be ready within 15 minutes. If you are positive, our team will provide you with clear guidelines on how to proceed from there depending on how severe your symptoms are. A positive coronavirus patient with mild symptoms will be instructed to stay home and stop interacting with others to prevent the spread of the virus. However, if the symptoms are more severe, the patient will be referred to a hospital for the appropriate medical care.
