What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a new strain of the virus that causes diseases mainly affecting the lungs. When an infected person sneezes or coughs, the air droplets that exit their body can spread the virus to other people. The virus enters the body through the eyes, nose, and mouth. Symptoms of COVID include: fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

What is PCR Testing?

The Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction, or RT-PCR, test is a reliable testing method to check if you are infected with the Coronavirus. When COVID-19 particles enter the body, they invade the host cells and start to replicate their viral RNA molecules. The RT-PCR test detects the presence of Coronavirus RNA in human cells, even if there are no antibodies produced yet or the person has not shown any symptoms yet. We are using a private CLIA certified lab that has an EUA from the FDA and is recognized by the health department and the city of Los Angeles.

What is rapid antigen testing?

COVID-19 rapid antigen tests detect the presence of viral proteins and results are obtained in 15 minutes. A rapid antigen test can diagnose an active COVID-19 infection. The test is performed by a nasal swab and ran at our test site or in the comfort of your home.

24-hour COVID-19 testing results

Our facility is able to provide same day RT-PCR testing and results, the RT-PCR test should be collected earlier in the day in order to provide results on the same day. At times the lab can be delayed and thus most 24-hour COVID-19 testing results are released typically within 12 hours but can take up to 24 hours. If you have a need for same day results, please contact our office at 3102998959 and let us know. At times the office can charge an additional $75 courrier fee to send your test to the lab stat to get results in 6 hours.

How to prepare for PCR test?

To obtain a sample of your cells, a medical professional will perform a procedure called a nasal swab. They will insert a long cotton bud through your nostril to pick up cells from the inner lining of your nose. Your sample will then be taken to a laboratory to be analyzed for coronavirus RNA. This procedure will not take more than 5 minutes and is not a painful procedure, but it can cause discomfort.

When can I get my PCR Test results?

At My Concierge MD, we usually give you your COVID test results within 24 hours or less. Typically results are released same day.  If you are in a rush, make sure you schedule your 24-hour COVID-19 testing appointment early on so that you can receive your results same day.

What to do after my 24-hour COVID-19 testnig results are out?

Based on your COVID test results, our staff will guide you through the process from beginning to end. If you are coronavirus negative, you can return home safely, but it is highly recommended that you maintain social distancing and self-isolate as much as possible. If you are coronavirus positive, the doctor will evaluate your symptoms and share next steps with you.

People with mild symptoms can go back home to recover on their own, however it is crucial that they self-isolate and wear face masks and gloves whenever they interact with family members or roommates at home. If the COVID symptoms are more severe, patients will be directly referred to a hospital to be treated upon admission.
