Annual Physical & Preventive Care in Beverly Hills & Los Angeles
An annual physical is a routine preventive visit designed to review your overall health, identify common risk factors, update screening and vaccinations, and address new or ongoing medical concerns. At My Concierge MD, David Nazarian, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician, provides annual physicals and preventive care for adults in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.
This page is the primary resource for routine physical exams, annual checkups, wellness exams, and preventive care. It is intentionally different from our Executive Physical, which is a more comprehensive, premium evaluation that may include broader diagnostic testing and a more intensive preventive-health review.
Choose the Level of Evaluation That Fits Your Goals
Patients can choose between a routine annual physical and three levels of executive health evaluation. The right option depends on your age, health history, risk factors, goals, and how extensive you want the assessment to be.
| Option | Best for | What it emphasizes | Learn more |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual Physical | Routine yearly preventive care | History, physical examination, guideline-based screening and standard labs when appropriate | This page |
| Executive Essential | Patients wanting a more thorough baseline | Physician-led preventive assessment with expanded evaluation based on risk | Executive Physical |
| Executive Comprehensive Most Popular | Busy professionals wanting a deeper coordinated evaluation | Broader cardiovascular, metabolic, diagnostic and body-composition assessment when appropriate | Executive Physical |
| Executive Longevity | Patients focused on healthspan and long-term risk reduction | Advanced preventive assessment, longitudinal tracking and a longer-term health strategy | Executive Physical |

Annual Checkup, Wellness Exam, and Preventive Physical
Patients often use terms such as annual checkup, annual physical, wellness exam, and preventive physical to describe the same general type of routine visit. The exact components depend on age, sex, medical history, symptoms, risk factors, and prior testing.
Preventive Screening
Preventive screening should be individualized rather than ordered as a standard package for every patient. Depending on age and risk, this may include review of cardiovascular risk, diabetes screening, cholesterol testing, cancer screening, bone health, immunizations, and other evidence-based preventive recommendations.
Routine Laboratory Testing
Laboratory testing may be ordered when it is appropriate for the patient’s age, medical history, medications, symptoms, or risk factors. Routine testing may include blood counts, metabolic testing, glucose or A1C, cholesterol, thyroid testing, or other studies when clinically indicated. More testing is not automatically better; the goal is to order tests that are likely to influence care.
Annual Physical vs. Executive Physical
A routine annual physical focuses on standard preventive care, general medical review, examination, and appropriate screening. An Executive Physical is a broader, more intensive evaluation for patients who want a coordinated assessment that may include expanded laboratory testing, cardiovascular testing, body-composition or bone-health evaluation, ultrasound, pulmonary testing, and other diagnostics selected according to individual risk.
If you primarily need a yearly preventive visit, medication review, routine screening, and ongoing primary care, the Annual Physical & Preventive Care visit is usually the appropriate starting point. If you want a deeper, comprehensive health evaluation, the Executive Physical may be a better fit.
When to Schedule an Annual Physical
Many adults benefit from periodic preventive visits, although the appropriate interval depends on age, medical history, chronic conditions, medications, and risk factors. Patients with active medical problems may need additional visits beyond the annual exam.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is an annual physical the same as a wellness exam?
In everyday use, the terms often overlap. Insurance plans may define specific preventive or wellness benefits differently, but clinically both visits generally focus on routine preventive care and health review.
Do I need blood tests every year?
Not necessarily. Laboratory testing should be based on age, history, medications, symptoms, and risk factors rather than ordered automatically for every patient each year.
Can an annual physical replace visits for active medical problems?
No. New symptoms, medication changes, chronic disease management, or urgent concerns may require separate evaluation and follow-up.
What is the difference between an annual physical and an executive physical?
An annual physical is a routine preventive visit. An executive physical is a more comprehensive program that may include additional testing and a deeper review of cardiovascular, metabolic, imaging, body-composition, and other health risks.
