Desiree has been working with patients at MyConciergeMD as a nutritionist and health coach for over a decade. “As a nutritionist my goal is to guide my patients to lead a healthy lifestyle and have a positive outlook on life and eating habits. My goal is to inspire my patients to make a lifestyle change that is based on proper diet and exercise that is sustainable over their life instead of a quick fix”. My passion for healthcare started when I took a course in nutrition science and learned about healthy eating and the importance it has not only on our physical health but also our mental health. As I began eating more healthfully and feeling the improvements, I became inspired to help others look and feel their best and I decided to pursue a career as a nutritionist and health coach. I am dedicated to helping individuals lead their best life and feel empowered to choose health and wellness everyday.

Eating disorders treated
There are several types of eating disorders, including:
- Anorexia nervosa is a condition where one has a fear of gaining weight and is typically associated with severe weight loss and intense fear of gaining weight.
- Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder that involves binging and purging episodes. Patients often vomit or use laxatives to prevent weight gain.
- Binge eating disorder: is another eating disorder with recurrent episodes of binge eating without the compensatory behavior of purging.
- Pica: Is an eating disorder with a persistent consumption of non-food items such as dirt, hair, or paint.
- Rumination disorder: Involves the regurgitation of food and rechewing. Patients who suffer from this may then re-swallowed or discard the food.
- Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID): Patients who suffer from this condition have a lack of interest in eating or avoidance of certain foods. They are often malnourished and have significant weight loss.
As a patient, you will receive a thorough recommendations of dietary changes. Some of the tips that I usually provide my patients include:
- Limit sugary drinks as they are terrible for you and have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
- Eat more nuts and seeds! They are a great source for protein, fiber, and vitamins and minerals.
- Avoid ultra-processed foods! They are high in added sugar, refined oil, and other unhealthy ingredients.
- Consume coffee in moderation! Coffee does have health benefits and has been linked to a reduced risk of several illnesses. But don’t over do it!
- Eat fatty fish! It is a great source of protein and healthy fats. Watch out about the kind of fish you eat and mercury content though !
- Get enough sleep! Sleep is so important and underrated! Poor sleep can disrupt appetite hormones and lead to other health issues.
